Dana Elaine Owens, better called Queen Latifah in America, is an actress and rapper. Queen Latifah is an American rapper, actress and performer. Queen Latifah was the daughter of a Newark New Jersey schoolteacher and a Newark New Jersey police officer Lancelot Owens Senior was raised and born within Newark New Jersey. Her parents divorced around the age of 10. Latifah was a student at a Catholic school and was educated in Newark New Jersey. She was a member of at the Baptist church. Her stage name Latifah is a reference to delicate and compassionate in Arabic was handed to her by her aunt when she was eight. Latifah is an extremely tall 5'10 girl who was in the basketball team of her high school team. in a school show, she performed the song Home from The Wiz. Latifah began beatboxing with the rap group Ladies Fresh. Latifah used to be a member of Flavor Unit - a group of rappers that joined by the producer DJ Mark the 45 king. Mark James, aka DJ Mark the45 King, recorded the rap of Queen Latifah, aka Princess of the Posse. The song was recorded and given to Yo! MTV Raps Faddy. Dante Ross, an employee of Tommy Boy Music who heard the song and made a deal with Latifah in 1988 to release her first single Wrath of My Madness.
